SULE COLLEGE offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as
Musical Activities Ranges of musical activities are organised by the Music teachers. At present there is a school choir comprising of the Primary students and a String Ensemble. These groups perform at a variety of school functions throughout the year and at the end of year award giving and graduation ceremonies
Sport Sport as an aspect of the school curriculum is an integral part of an individual’s development and is integrated into the timetable. As well as participating in sporting activities at school students at Sule College also enter into Zone and other carnivals throughout the year competing in a range of fields with different schools. Recent years Sule College soccer teams participated in Telstra EXPO all schools soccer competitions and rose up to grand finals.
Excursions Most subjects arrange excursions during the year. When an excursion has been planned, students will be given an Excursion Permission Form which will contain information about the nature, date, times, location and cost of the excursion together with a reply section which parents should use to indicate their permission that their child(ren) may attend the planned excursion. This written permission needs to be completed and signed by parents or guardians, and returned to the teacher organising the excursion. Students who misbehave during excursions may be suspended from future excursions at the discretion of the year level coordinators.
Student Welfare Network The guidance and counselling aspect of the school emphasises the importance of helping each student gain the most benefit from their years at Sule College. Services are designed to aid integration upon arrival and to provide support, help or information at any stage through the student’s school life. After school or weekend activities are organised by the school’s welfare personnel that may include camps, short visits to local attractions and school based activities.
School Counsellor Sule College has a qualified and experienced school counsellor who is available to see students regarding problems that they may be experiencing at school or home. Usually the class teacher refers the student to the counsellor with the approval of the Deputy Principal or Principal. She can assist with personal difficulties or help a student improve his/her work habits and study techniques through either individual or group sessions.
Work Experience Program All students in Year 10 are involved in one week of work experience. Students are required to make contact with prospective employers and to make arrangements regarding placement for them. The Careers Adviser closely monitors the process. The program is aimed at developing self-confidence, improving ability to cope with day-to-day work situations and assisting in making decisions about future careers. Staff visit or phone during their week at work, to support them, inquire as to progress and to assist with any problems.
